Natural 'Summer Friendly' Face.

When the weather is heating up I don't particularly want to make my face look impeccable, for it to just melt off within the hour. The answer? Keeping it natural has been one of the best choices that I've made makeup wise for a long time. Less is more, less chance of your eyebrows sliding off your chin and more time spent out in the sun!

Of course when there isn't a cloud in sight I reach for one thing, and one thing only. Eau Thermale Avène Very High Protection Emulsion SPF 50+, specialised for very fair skin but suitable for all. My skin is fair, and home to a few family's of freckles. Oh how they love to multiply in the sun, they thrive off it. The answer, an invisible layer that keeps those guys in check and my skin protected. Unlike other sun protection creams, the formula is lightweight and smooths straight into the skin, no more stickiness!

For the base there is only one suggestion in my books. Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm, a BB Cream with a natural hydrating finish. It gives a natural-looking coverage, with hydration and a light dewy glow. Beaming luminosity! I have a more detailed review here.  For concealing the inevitable dark circles under my eyes I reach for my trusted Dior Hydra Life BB Eye Cream. It's light and creamy formula smooths onto the sin and instantly covers the wisps of purple and grey from under my eyes. Another full review here.

Two more additions and your ready to hit the towel outside! A cream blush works best with the dewy base I have already. The Topshop Cream Blush Stick in Acting Up (In store only) is perfect for a pop of colour that can easily be blended with either your hands or a brush. Just twist up, draw where you want it and blend in. This is so pigmented its incredibly versatile, not to mention the fact that it dries to a matte finish! That's not going anywhere. And last but not least, something smooth and fruity on the lips. Of course I turn to the body shop for this, The Body Shop Lip Balm in Watermelon. The smell is remarkable, its hydrating and has an incredible shine finish.

If this too bare faced then opt for a mascara, whatever suits you. Just make sure its waterproof, no body wants any pandas in the pool.

What do you turn to when the weather heats up? Do you use an SPF?
